Rabbi David Finkelstein was ordained from Hebrew College Rabbinical School in June, 2014. Before coming to Temple Beth Israel, he served at Temple Shalom, a Conservative Synagogue in Salem, MA, where he led participatory Shabbat and holiday services, delivered divrei Torah, and provided pastoral care. Previously he was an intern at the Boston Synagogue in Boston, where he led traditional egalitarian services, facilitated Torah discussions, and planned outreach events for young adults. He also worked as a Torah reader for Temple Israel of Nantasket, where he chanted the full Torah portion each week at this independent congregation. He provided chaplaincy and pastoral care to patients and their families at Mass General Hospital, and has worked in a variety of capacities at Jewish summer camps. Prior to entering Rabbinical school, he taught English and humanities at colleges in the Boston area. He holds a MA in Humanities from University of Chicago, and a BA in English from University of Wisconsin. He is also an accomplished musician. He and Rabbi Sara Meirowitz are the parents of their son, Rafi.
