Rabbi Tracy Nathan and her family moved to the Boston area in 2006 after serving at Congregation Beth Sholom in San Francisco. She has been a faculty member at Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston and Genesis, Brandeis University’s pluralistic summer program for high school students. She has also facilitated interfaith dialogue programs, including Tufts University’s Pathways Initiative and the National Conference for Community and Justice’s Seminarians Interacting. She received her ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary and shares a home with Rabbi Scott Slarskey and their son, Hanan. She joined the Temple Beth Israel community in August, 2010.
Ellen Band has served as Temple Beth Israel’s High Holyday Cantor since 2001. During the year, she leads services on several Shabbat mornings as the ‘Kol Bo’. In this capacity she leads the service, often chants the Haftarah, introduces the Torah portion, and delivers the teaching. Ms. Band served as the Director of Worship and Celebration at Congregation Kehillath Israel, Brookline, MA, from May 2005 till December 2010. In addition to an M.Ed., she holds a certificate in Cantorial Arts from Hebrew College. She is also an active composer, sound artist, and electronic musician.
Mr. Morris Hollender has been reading Torah at Temple Beth Israel for over 30 years. Here he is singing a favorite song one morning after minyan.
