Cemetery

Temple Beth Israel operates the Beth Israel Memorial Park at 190 South Street, Waltham, near Brandeis University.  The Cemetery is managed by the Jewish Cemetery Association of Massachusetts.

These photos are from a Genizah ceremony at our cemetery during which we buried worn prayerbooks, photocopies, and other sacred items.  The objects for burial were brought in a procession of songs praising God’s Name to the Genizah under the chuppah canopy of a tallit. This shows the sacred relationship we have with the objects of our tradition, and the care with which we treat them.
