About Temple Beth Israel (TBI)
Located in Waltham, MA, Temple Beth Israel is a vibrant, egalitarian, and inclusive independent synagogue with a 100-year history. We value community, tradition, and inclusion, welcoming people of all backgrounds, including interfaith and LGBTQ+ families.
With about 100 members, our community is growing, with a vibrant “NextGen” group of members in their 20s and 30s and expanding offerings for young families.
Our synagogue life centers on prayer, celebrating Jewish holidays, learning, social justice, and being together in community. We hold services every Shabbat morning followed by a community lunch, and host a monthly Shabbat dinner or potluck. We are looking for an office administrator who is organized, tech-savvy, and ready to be a warm, welcoming presence for members and guests.
Summary
Manage office communications, financial and organizational data, operations and facilities, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Status: Part-time (20 hours per week), Hourly.
- Schedule: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm with some flexibility. Occasional evening or weekend work for holidays or community events required
- Paid Time Off: 7 Federal and up to 13 Jewish holidays that fall on regularly scheduled work days; 60 hours of inclusive PTO (Vacation, Sick, and Personal time) accrued at 5 hours / month.
Key Responsibilities
- Communications: Create and distribute e-blasts, printed bulletin, event flyers and other communications, update website and social media
- Financial and Data Management: Handle QuickBooks (AP/Payroll), assist in preparing budget and financial reports, and manage the ShulCloud member database/grant reporting.
- Synagogue Support and Operations: Coordinate and support events with board and committee members, and clergy.Oversee the master calendar.
- Facilities: Manage vendors and contractors, cleaning staff, building maintenance projects.
Qualifications
- Tech: Proficiency with QuickBooks, MS Office and Google Platforms, Constant Contact. Experience with ShulCloud, WordPress, Canva and other office apps are a plus.
- Experience: Non-profit administrative background and familiarity with Jewish traditions. Detail-oriented, independent, interpersonal skills, and professional with sensitive information.
