Rabbi Benjamin Chaidell
We are excited to announce that Rabbi Benjamin Chaidell joined Temple Beth Israel in late August, 2023, as its spiritual leader.
Rabbi Chaidell was the chaplain resident at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and has completed his advanced pastoral training at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He previously served as associate rabbi at Adath Israel Congregation in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he established a self-sustaining 20s and 30s community and oversaw the introduction to Judaism program welcoming almost ten new members to the community.
Rabbi Chaidell received rabbinic ordination at the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2018, where he also earned a master’s degree in Jewish Education and studied in Israel for one year. He spent a summer at Camp Ramah Palmer empowering young adults with disabilities with vocational and social skills.
Before rabbinical school, Benjamin traveled to Jewish communities across the South as an Education Fellow at the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life (ISJL). He graduated from Yale College in May 2011, where he majored in religious studies. He enjoys music (especially from Israel), storytelling podcasts, and the New York Mets.
